O.K., is it just me that remembers a long time ago, before the start of the Iraq war; that when all the reasons were being made up for going in there Tony Blair said that 'this is not about regime change as that would be illegal'. Now, all other reasons have been forgotten and that is now the whole reason for the invasion.
It just strikes me as odd, that in order to take out a Dictator that has outlived his usefulness, you have to bomb a country for days, take out all major infrastructure and leave the population with nothing - and then expect them to be on your side when its all over.
I wonder too, wether the polititions actually believe themselves when they say that life is better in Iraq now that Saddam had gone. It must be so much better now, with just hours of electricity a day, little running water, no petrol, chaos on the streets and extremists running towns while the 'Government' is safely guarded in the Green Zone.
I could go on and on about this, not because I'm on Saddams side, but because of the way the whole thing has gone (and still going).
The rubbish and lies that we get told, and the fact that nobody in the media now has the balls to stand up and ask some really awkward questions.
You get Bush/Blair saying how bad he was to his people, then using depleted uranium ammunition, which is then just left there for kids to play with, and sending troops out there underfunded without the equipment and tools to do the job.
You get Bush giving all the contracts to rebuild Iraq (although strangely nothing seems to be getting rebuilt) to USA companies like Cheneys' Haliburton etc.
I could keep going but you probably get the drift of it......
The motto of all this (if there is one) would be to think for yourself and dont rely on the stories you get fed in the papers and on the news. There are always two sides to any story, you will get one thrown at you - but it's up to you to find the other side and then find the truth that will be somewhere inbetween.
thats that off my chest so I'm off for something to eat - take care all
